Beberapa bulan yang lalu, saya terlibat dalam diskusi yang sangat menarik dengan Andahayani Yoseph (Anda). Junior saya di kampus Unand yang juga adalah penyiar radio classy FM waktu itu. Kami membahas tentang kemungkinan mendirikan komunitas bahasa Inggris di RPI Sumbar. Sebuah komunitas yang bertujuan untuk menjadi wadah bagi warga sumbar untuk meningkatkan skill dan keahliannya.

Seiring berjalannya diskusi, tercetuslah sebuah ide dari Anda, bagaimana kalau kita mendirikan komunitas public speaking saja? Karena saat ini kita melihat, para generasi muda masih banyak yang belum memiliki skill dan keahlian untuk berbicara di depan umum dengan performa yang baik.

Public speaking adalah sebuah keterampilan berkomunikasi yang dibutuhkan oleh semua orang. Tanpa melihat apa statusnya, pekerjaan, juga jabatannya, ilmu komunikasi ini menjadi wajib untuk dimiliki dan dikuasai. Karena sebuah skill komunikasi yang baik akan mampu menghindarkan kita dari kesalahpahaman yang dapat berujung konflik.

Maka dimulailah sebuah tahapan untuk mendirikan komunitas public speaking.

Komunitas ini diberi nama PUSH RPI Sumbar. Singkatan dari Public Speaking from Home. Dengan programnya berbasis virtual. Peserta akan dipandu oleh para mentor untuk belajar mengenai ilmu-ilmu terkait public speaking dari rumah.

Mohon doa kita bersama. Semoga komunitas yang akan dilaunching akhir Januari ini dapat memberikan manfaat yang besar bagi peningkatan kualitas generasi bangsa, terutama di bidang public speaking.
